Esona Makinana

Esona is a human-centred Designer and cross-cultural facilitator. He has over 5 years of experience facilitating workshops for clients in the public and private sectors, as well as multilateral development actors. For example, for the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN), Esona co-facilitated and supported the development of a week-long hybrid design sprint workshop for 30 participants from diverse disciplines and geographies to craft food safety interventions to test in traditional markets in Nigeria. Esona also co-facilitated the French Development Agency Biodiversity Partners Program where Southern African participants validated ideas to build a local ecosystem of pro-nature actors. Currently, he designs, plans, adapts and facilitates design thinking learning experiences for the Hasso Plattner d-school Afrika at the University of Cape Town. Personally, Esona has found great benefit in applying design thinking methods in his personal life, new venture creation and music production.
