Dr. Radka Newton is a Senior Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University where she has been pioneering Design Thinking integration into business and management learning. Radka’s passion is not only to immerse her students into a designer mindset but she also challenges her fellow educators to develop design as their approach to transforming education for better. Her holistic and human-centred approach to University experience has been globally presented as scholarly research but also as a practical method that has enhanced many global institutions in their desire to make things better for students and staff. In 2019 she co-founded a global network Service Design in Education developing a community of practice for educators open to experiment and try new ways of understanding our complex environment. The project to be shared at the d-school Afrika event builds on a connection between people, places and design for a common purpose to make our places better. Radka will share with you how places can inspire responsible and sustainable design, develop agency and commitment and show the value of design for something that is happening right here and right now.
