Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP)

The insulation and refrigerant gases used in the building, as in the HVAC plant, the domestic hot water heatpump and chilled/ hot water piping, have zero ozone depleting potential.

The Ozone Depletion Potential (ODP) value is a measurement of how damaging something (in this case refrigerants and blowing agents in some insulation materials) is for the ozone layer. The lower this measurement, the less destructive a particular refrigerant or an insulating material is to the ozone layer.

At the HPI d-school Building, all the refrigerants and insulating materials which have been used in the HVAC systems, Domestic Hot Water system and the roof insulation have a value of zero ODP.
